BioProcess Digital Courses

Microbial fermentation processes
Learn how to scale-up and optimize microbial fermentors
COURSE DESCRIPTION
The course teaches the simulation based scale-up and optimization of microbial fermentors. It first describes the kinetic analysis and modeling-simulation at the laboratory. Then, at the industrial scale, the optimization of the fermentor operational mode and variables. The methodology is learned through a R&D project on glutamic acid fermentation
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN ?
-
Design and analyze experiments to determine the kinetics of microbial reactions
-
Construct fermentors simulation models in batch, continuous and fed-batch operations
-
Use process simulators to scale up, design and optimize microbial fermentors for highest productivity or lowest production cost
-
What are fermentors productivity limitations by microbial reaction, oxygen and heat transfers ?
